Stephanie Pearson teaches ancient art and archaeology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and New York University Berlin. She received her Ph.D. in the History of Art at the University of California Berkeley with a dissertation on Hellenistic and Egyptian motifs in ancient Roman wall painting, titled Egyptian Airs: The Life of Luxury in Roman Wall Painting. Her first book, The Triumph and Trade of Egyptian Objects in Rome, was supported by a postdoctoral grant at the Getty Villa in 2016-17 and is being published by De Gruyter, Berlin in the Image & Context (ICON) series.
Museums count among Stephanie's greatest passions. Her courses in Greek, Etruscan, Roman, and Late Antique art and archaeology draw upon her work at the Berlin Antikensammlung, where she has translated texts and led tours of the Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, Neues Museum, and Museum Island. Effectively communicating through museum display is a running theme in Stephanie’s exhibition reviews and her blog, Ideas on Display. Her project museums.love draws on this expertise to offer a personal guided experience of museums worldwide through videos, reviews, and essays.
